A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving (I read this book about once a year, it's beautifully written and makes me both laugh and cry)

The History Man by Malcolm Bradbury (essential reading for anyone who's ever been in a meeting)

The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (just the most beautiful love story)

The Children of Men by P D James (a fascinating look at what would happen if there were no more children)

A History of God by Karen Armstrong (whatever your religious beliefs, this book is a fascinating account of how Christianity, Islam and Judaism evolved over the centuries)

I Claudius (jaw dropping and a great reminder that it could be worse!)

The Tudors (pure trash but wonderful with it)

Monarchy (a great look at how we got where we are today)

The Jeremy Kyle Show (I hesitated whether to reveal my secret guilty pleasure but I figured that if you are in marketing you need to understand everyone in society)

Gavin & Stacey (I'm not going to lie to you, it's just gentle charming fun)

Dr Who (all the childlike joy of hiding behind the sofa but now with added humour)
